SARASOTA COUNTY, FL - The Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections office says a message saying they've received your absentee ballot went out by mistake.

Nearly 12,000 absentee voters got the message by email Tuesday morning. Supervisor Kathy Dent says phones and emails came pouring in, with many people concerned someone else voted for them or a scam of some sort was taking place.

A second email was sent out before 11:30 notifying recipients of the mistake. Absentee ballots have not even been sent out yet. They are expected to be put in the mail February 18th.

Tune in tonight on ABC 7 for much more on this story this evening.
