PALMETTO - A hometown rock band came home Monday night to play for a packed hall. Members of the group We The Kings spent time with their fans during a concert at "The Hall" in Palmetto.
The band members all attended King Middle School in Manatee County, and that's where the name comes from.
Now they're playing all across the country -- even on national TV. But they wanted to play their final concert of the year at home.
"It's pretty amazing. It was kinda booked the last minute. We were, like, hey, we're all home for the holidays, so let's book a hometown show, because Bradenton really isn't a main market, so it's always Tampa or Orlando. So we wanted something speacial and pretty intimate for the fans who knew us from the start. It's pretty special for us to be here," says singer Ravis Clark.
"It means a lot, because there's a lot of kids here who have been fans since the last time we left and they haven't even seen us just yet. And now we come home and play a hometown show and they get to see us live finally, and they deserve it the most," says drummer Daniel Lee Duncan.
Three other local bands joined We The Kings" for their homecoming concert. The band has a packed concert schedule that will take them all around the country in the upcoming year.
