SARASOTA - A woman is in the hospital tonight after her car was hit by a street sweeper.

It happened just before 10:00 at the intersection of Cocoanut and 10th Street in Sarasota.  Sarasota County firefighters had to cut the driver out of the white SUV.  They say her foot was caught inside.

Sarasota Police say the driver of the SUV was driving south on Cocoanut, ran the red light and crashed into the street sweeper.  Police say the SUV rolled three times and then landed on it's side.  The driver of the street sweeper is okay.

Charges are expected for the woman for running the red light.
