Manatee search doesn't provide leads in kidnapping case

Updated:

MANATEE COUNTY - The search for clues in the kidnapping of North Port mother Denise Amber Lee will not continue in Manatee County Saturday unless there is new information.

Deputies started a search about 4 p.m. Friday off U.S. 301 in Parrish in an area known as Harrison Ranch.

Deputies found a pair of sandals in that area, but say they have no reason to believe they are Lee's.  Searchers did not find anything else.

The parents of the man charged in Lee's kidnapping, Michael King, live not far from the search area in a mobile home just north of 301 in Ellenton.

But investigators have not said if King was there Thursday before or after Lee was kidnapped from her home in North Port leaving her two young children alone.

During a news briefing Saturday morning, North Port Police Chief Terry Lewis said there is no reason to search in Manatee County again unless they receive new tips.
