PORT CHARLOTTE - The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office released more details of the blue and white Cherokee plane that crashed around 11:30 a.m. this morning in Port Charlotte.
The pilot told deputies he heard a "pop" sound coming from the engine, and then the engine failed. He crash landed into a wooded and swampy area by hitting the brush first, and then the plane flipped completely around and came to rest.
The pilot and his two passengers were taken from the crash site and were uninjured, however, about an hour after the crash, one of the passengers had some type of seizure and EMS transported him to Fawcett Memorial Hospital. No other details are available at this time.
FAA has been called to the scene to do their investigation.
