Dispatcher: Venice Police what is your emergency?

Caller: Oh yes...there is someone breaking into TJMaxx right now...I work at SweetBay and a couple of the ladies that work there just ran down here, telling me that somebody is robbing TJ Maxx right now.

Dispatcher: Okay...hang on a second. Did they say if they were burglarizing it or robbing it?

Caller: They said they were robbing it. They broke in and they're robbing it.

Dispatcher: (talking to someone) Are any of them there for me to talk to?

Caller: Uh, they just ran up front to the front of the store...I am standing in the back.

Dispatcher: Okay, are you in TJ Maxx or where are you at?

Caller: I'm at SweetBay.

Dispatcher: You're at SweetBay.

Caller: Yep.

Dispatcher: Is there anyway you can, um, reach them and have them come to the phone we kind of need to know what is going on?

Caller: Yeah...hang on.

TJ Maxx Employee: (deep breathing) Hello...hello.

Dispatcher: Hello...okay tell me what is going on?

TJ Maxx Employee: We were closing the store and these guys came in with masks on...and I think they were in the store.

((inaudible))

Dispatcher: Okay did they come in the front door?

TJ Maxx Employee: Yes!

Dispatcher: How many were there?

TJ Maxx Employee: I don't know. I don't know I saw one with the mask on and he had a gun. (crying)

Dispatcher: You said he had a mask and a gun?

TJ Maxx Employee: Yes. He had a black mask. And he had a mask and a gun. And I think he is in with my manager.

Dispatcher: Okay do you know if...hey...do you if he is still in the store?

TJ Maxx Employee: Yeah, I think so. I don't know I opened the back door.

Dispatcher: You and your friend ran out the back door?

TJMaxx Employee: Yes. (crying)

Dispatcher: Okay, I want you stay on the line with me? Who else is in the store?

TJ Maxx Employee: There is about five people in there.

Dispatcher: Okay, five other employees or so in the store?

TJ Maxx Employee: Yes! Yes yes...we were closing and we ran in the back room and they didn't see us...so we ran in the back room.

Dispatcher: Okay, you're over at SweetBay now.

TJ Maxx Employee: Yes, I think they...I think they're in with the manager in the cash office.

Dispatcher: Okay

TJ Maxx Employee: (crying) Oh god...

Dispatcher: How many masked men did you see...can you remember?

TJ Maxx Employee: I only saw one but I don't know. He had a black mask on and I know he had...I think he had a gun. Did think he had a gun? He was right there. Uh.

Dispatcher: You're not sure if he had a gun?

TJ Maxx Employee: I don't know....(crying) I don't know! (crying)

Dispatcher: Okay, do you know if they came in a car?

TJ Maxx Employee: I don't know...I just was locking the door and I heard these guys yelling. And then they started running in...so we ran in the back room and got out the back door. Yeah, there is about five employees in there. (crying)

Dispatcher: Okay, hold on a moment.

TJ Maxx Employee: (crying and breathing hard)

CALL #2

Dispatcher: Venice Police Department...what is the location of your emergency?  Hello?

Caller: Yes.

Dispatcher: How can I help you?

Caller: Uh, TJ Maxx is being robbed.

Dispatcher: Okay...do you see the person?

Caller: No, but I just saw the vehicle with no lights leaving the back of our complex here but the employees said they're still inside. They are holding somebody inside.

Dispatcher: Okay, what kind of vehicle?

Caller: I just saw...it looks like a Ford baby Bronco...it's a small SUV...black.  I'm out in the parking lot looking in.

(caller tries to talk)

Dispatcher: Okay, hold on...shhh...please. (dispatcher talking to someone)

Dispatcher: Did you see where the vehicle went?

Caller: The vehicle is going between the laundromat by Albee Farm Road...the vehicle that left from behind the building.

Dispatcher: (talking)

Caller: But these employees said that they're still inside...they don't know how many of them there are.

Dispatcher: Could it possibly a PT Cruiser?

Caller: Umm…very possible. The police officers just pulled in. I’m like 100 yards away and it’s dark behind the building...the police officer’s leaving.  I think these guys are saying there’s still one of them in the building holding the other people in there.

Dispatcher: Do you have any…did you see how many occupants in the vehicle? How many?

Caller: No. It’s too dark. It had dark tinted windows.

Dispatcher: (repeats the info)

Caller: They're saying there are still five employees inside...screaming. the place is being robbed. It’s TJ Maxx.

Dispatcher: Now, you said there are still people in the building?

Caller: There are two women here screaming and crying they said there’s five employees still inside and there is somebody in there with them...that they saw one person telling them to get down or something like that...and they had a gun. And they said they hadn’t seen…the employees are still in there. I’m looking at the front of the store, they haven’t left.

Dispatcher: Okay.

Caller: The only vehicle I seen come out of this side of the building was that one vehicle.
