CHARLOTTE COUNTY - A woman who drove her car off the road for unknown reasons Friday has died.

22-year-old Jailyn Heyman of Rotonda West was driving northbound on Placida Road just after 11am Friday when her car veered across the southbound lanes and onto the west shoulder of the road near Lemon Bay Road.

Her car struck a sign and tree in front of the Fifth Third Bank, and Heyman was ejected from the car and died at the scene.  She was not wearing a seat belt.

Debris from the crash damaged a vehicle in the bank parking lot.
