FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) - Fort Lauderdale officials will cut the ribbon for what is said to be the largest independent library of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender materials in the U.S.
The Stonewall Library & Archives officially opens Thursday in its new location - a city building - following an anti-gay campaign from a former Fort Lauderdale mayor and approval from local city and county commissions. It is a museum and gallery featuring a collection that is also taken on exhibition tours around the country.
