LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL (WWSB) - The Suncoast is still a few months away from the Sarasota Film Festival, but some aspiring filmmakers are putting their best ideas on the table, hoping to one day show their work here at home.
Dozens of film-making hopefuls took part in the “Pitch Strong” conference at State College of Florida campus in Lakewood Ranch. They presented their ideas for future films to a group of professionals from the film making industry on Sunday and Monday. They received feedback, then re-pitched their improved ideas to the pros.
“I’ve come back today to re-pitch with a totally different format with props and video and it’s perfectly timed,” said Kim Galway, a Digital Cinema student at the State College of Florida.
Some of those film ideas stem from events on the Suncoast, suggesting the idea of a film based on the recent red tide bloom or a romantic comedy involving two lovers in Sarasota.
