FIRST ALERT WEATHER: MLK Day brings nice weather and cold weather for the holiday weekend

SARASOTA (WWSB) -The winds of change are with us with the next cold front coming in during the overnight time period. Beginning at midnight, we should see showers and the possibility of thunderstorms moving into the area. The chance of severe weather could also take place with gusts as strong as 55 mph with thunderstorms.

Sunday morning after 9 am things begin to calm down and clear up. The cold weather moving in behind the front will continue to drop our temperatures, like a stone, all day long. The highest temperature we will have on Sunday is 60 degrees about 1 in the morning. By mid day that temperature is expected to only be 62 and it keeps on dropping for the remainder of the day.

The low on Sunday is 42 degrees. On Monday, Martin Luther King Day, it will be beautiful....sunny skies and that crystal blue sky color and highs will only climb into the low 60′s!

After Monday, the temperatures start to climb back into the 70′s with our next cold front coming through on Wednesday night through Thursday.

Then we go back down into the 60′s for daytime highs and 40′s for overnight lows.
