SARASOTA (WWSB) - A 40-year-old man is accused of showing up at a Siesta Key hotel to meet a 14-year-old girl for sex. Detectives were waiting for him instead.

West Palm Beach Police began their investigation on October 24, 2018, when detectives say Fred Makowski of Wauchula, Florida began chatting with a girl he believed to be 14-years-old on the MeetMe app. The girl was actually a detective. Detectives say over time the conversation turned sexual in nature and went off the app and on text messages.

On December 12, 2018, detectives say Makowski sent a picture of his penis, along with the message, “I wanna spank you. Touch your legs, your butt, buy you panties and bras you show me, I need you, I want to kiss you, your neck, touch your entire body... I wanna make you feel and need and want things you never knew. I wanna see you naked, I wanna touch your body, kiss your body, you’re a gorgeous girl, and need to be shown it.”

The conversation got more graphic from there.

On December 21, 2018, Makowski was told the teen would be heading to Siesta Key to a hotel with her family for vacation. Detectives say Makowski wanted to meet up with the teen and on January 7, 2019 was taken into custody after returning to his car after searching a Siesta Key hotel pool area for the teen.

Detectives interviewed Makowski and say he admitted to meeting her on MeetMe, sending her his phone number so they can text, sending her a photo of his penis and coming to the hotel to meet her by the pool.

Makowski is charged with Transmitting Information Harmful to Minors, Travelling to Meet a Child for Sex, Use of a Computer to Solicit a Child for Sex, and Felony Use of a Two-Way Communication Device to Facilitate a Felony.

He remains in custody at the Sarasota County Jail without bond. Makowski has prior arrests for Grand Theft, Driving While License Suspended, Violation of Probation, and more.
