SARASOTA, FL (WWSB) - Cabaret opens at the Manatee Performing Arts Center this weekend and runs thru November 11th. Cassandra Santiso plays the lead role of Sally Bowles. A role her mother Eve Cabrillo has also played several times in Suncoast Theatres. Cassandra visits Suncoast View to tell us the Play.
She says, "Cabarets were happy gathering places of song, dance , music and drama. Then in the early 1930's in Berlin, life was changing. On the horizon is an ugly and dangerous threat, but that's no concern for sensational Cabaret singer Sally Bowles ,whose only goal in life is to have a good time. Sally soon finds herself living with a young writer visiting from America to work on a new novel. while their relationship moves beyond just being friends, around them the lives of citizens go from ordinary to a nightmare. Will Sally recognize her own selfishness, or will she look to the ground as the Nazis steamroll over everything she holds dear?
Joining Cassandra on Suncoast View, for a preview of the music of the show, The Kit Kat Girls made up of Skylar Homan, Kayleigh Vlach, Anna Grace Robinette, Meliss Ingrisano, Jashua Roberson, and Audrey Lipton. They sing "Don't Tell Momma" from Cabaret.
