SARASOTA, FL (WWSB) - The Players Centre opens "Vanya & Sonia & Marsha and Spike" this week.
The award winning play promises to bring fireworks to the stage.
It's about 3 middle age sisters who've never married. And suddenly there's a man in their midst.
You know sparks are going to fly.
Jeffery Kin, Artistic Director at The Players is directing this play. He and two actors from the play, Eve Caballero, and Jim Floyd discuss the play.
Jeffery says, "Vanya & Sonia & Marsha and Spike" is about 3 sisters in their 50's. Vanya and Sonia have never left the confines of their childhood home in Bucks County, Pa, while their sister Masha has been gallivanting around the world as a successful actress. A surprise visit from Marsha and her 20-something boy toy, Spike, throws the normally quiet household into utter upheaval, as its residents and visitors get swept up in an intoxicating mixture of lust, rivalry, regret, and the sudden possibility of escape. And a terrible question looms, will they lose their ancestral home?
Eve says, "And it takes place in a Cherry Orchid. There are some great Chekhov moments in the play."
Jim Floyd tells us, "It won both a Tony and a Drama Desk Award on Broadway, and it promises to be a evening of great fun."
"Vanya & Sonia & Marsha & Spike" opens at the Playres Center Thursday, October 25th and runs thru November 11th.
